Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently released a selfie-style video to celebrate the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026. In his address, Modi described the new legislation as a crucial advancement in establishing a credible examination system and pledged to take stringent measures against what he termed the “paper mafia.”
However, the announcement was met with criticism from Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Dipke took to social media to mock the Prime Minister’s appearance in the video and raised doubts about the effectiveness of stricter laws in addressing the persistent issue of exam paper leaks.
The CJP has expressed concerns that the new legislation places too much emphasis on penalizing offenders without adequately addressing the root causes of the leaks. The party has called for comprehensive reforms, advocating for greater transparency and structural changes within the National Testing Agency (NTA).
According to the CJP, the focus should shift from merely punishing those caught in the act of leaking exam papers to implementing preventive measures that would reduce the occurrence of such breaches. The party believes that without these fundamental changes, the problem of exam paper leaks will persist despite the introduction of tougher laws.
