The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has leveled accusations against both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the two parties are working in tandem following a protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi near the Prime Minister’s residence concerning the NEET controversy. AAP Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh claimed that the government permitted this protest as a strategy to divert attention from the ongoing student-led movement that demands accountability over the NEET paper leak. Singh argued that such actions have diluted the broader public campaign.
Adding to the criticism, Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi raised questions about the government’s handling of protests. She pointed out the disparity in responses by noting that while student protesters and activists faced restrictions and police actions during demonstrations near Parliament, Rahul Gandhi’s protest was allowed to proceed near the Prime Minister’s residence, culminating in a prompt governmental response.
The protest drew significant attention after Union Minister Jitendra Singh visited the protest site and expressed the government’s willingness to discuss NEET-related issues in Parliament. Despite this, the protest concluded with the police detaining Rahul Gandhi along with several Congress Members of Parliament.
This sequence of events has laid bare the increasing tensions among opposition parties. The AAP has accused the Congress of indirectly aiding the BJP rather than standing in solidarity with the student movement, thus highlighting the unequal treatment of protests.
