The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has formally accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra amidst an investigation into alleged misuse of funds donated for the construction of the Ram Mandir. Trust treasurer Govind Giri confirmed that the resignations were in line with the trust’s constitution. He also acknowledged the significant contributions of Champat Rai since the trust’s inception, highlighting the impact of his work over the years.
The resignations follow accusations of financial discrepancies during the handling of temple donations. Senior trust member Pankaj Jaiswal expressed deep disappointment over the situation, emphasizing that any misconduct involving the funds contributed by devotees is unacceptable. The trust has taken steps to ensure continuity by appointing Krisha Mohan as the interim General Secretary while retaining Govind Giri as treasurer.
With the investigation ongoing, officials have stated that the trust will reconvene on July 22, by which time they expect a final report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Govind Giri has assured that the trust will not shield any individuals found guilty of wrongdoing, insisting that all implicated parties will face legal actions irrespective of their positions within the organization.
Currently, eight people have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of donations, highlighting the seriousness of the investigation. The trust remains under scrutiny as it works to address these allegations and uphold the integrity of its operations, with the outcome of the SIT’s report likely to play a pivotal role in determining the next steps.
