Swedish company Opsio has unveiled PrismIQ, a cutting-edge automated visual inspection service aimed at enhancing quality control for manufacturers by detecting production defects in real time. Initially launched in India, this technology is slated for expansion into global markets. PrismIQ integrates industrial cameras with deep-learning models tailored to specific manufacturers’ products, enabling the system to identify surface imperfections, cracks, contamination, dimensional discrepancies, and assembly errors during the manufacturing process.
The technology leverages edge hardware directly installed on production lines, allowing rapid inspection results without dependence on manual checks. Additionally, PrismIQ can be connected to existing PLC and SCADA systems, facilitating automated sorting and decision-making on production lines. Opsio aims to address the challenges of manual inspections that are often inefficient, especially on fast-paced manufacturing lines where examining each product individually is impractical. The platform employs an active-learning system that continuously improves its detection capabilities using production data.
PrismIQ is offered as a comprehensive service, with Opsio managing all aspects from camera, lens, and lighting configuration to model development, validation, and integration with factory systems. The service also includes operator training, quality dashboards, and regular performance evaluations. A typical deployment, starting from feasibility assessment to full production, spans about eight to twelve weeks. This service is initially available to manufacturers in sectors such as automotive, electronics, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals.
India was strategically chosen for the initial launch due to its rapidly growing manufacturing sector and Opsio’s established presence in the region, including an AI Lab in Bengaluru focused on developing industrial AI solutions. The technology itself is developed at Opsio’s headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden. Manufacturers interested in PrismIQ can begin with a feasibility study and proof-of-concept using their own products as samples.
