‘Overjoyed to Have Chansiri Out’: Trust Reacts to Wednesday’s 12-Point Hit

by admin477351

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust has declared it is “overjoyed to have Dejphon Chansiri out of our club for good,” after the owner placed the club into administration. This “bittersweet” day, however, came with an immediate 12-point deduction, leaving the Owls on -6 points.
The trust blamed Chansiri for the collapse, citing “years of financial mismanagement, a lack of accountability, and repeated failures to engage credible buyers.” The club’s debts include $pounds{}$1 million to HMRC and months of unpaid wages, which led to an exodus of players, including former manager Danny Röhl.
The 12-point penalty makes relegation from the Championship almost inevitable, as the club is now 15 points from safety. Manager Henrik Pedersen, however, remains defiant, insisting he has “a big belief we can survive” and that the club “deserves to grow.”
The club is now in the hands of administrator Begbies Traynor, who will attempt to sell the club and stadium as a package. They met with “emotional” staff on Friday morning, reassuring them they would seek a swift resolution.
The Supporters Trust is now shifting from protest to support. Having urged fans to boycott, they are now calling for them to return. “Now begins the phase of renewal,” their statement said. “Every ticket bought… helps the club rebuild.”
